The Brogue

The brogue (derived from the Gaeilge bróg (Irish), and the Gaelic bròg (Scottish) for “shoe”) is a style of low-heeled shoe or boot traditionally characterised by multiple-piece, sturdy leather uppers with decorative perforations (or “broguing”) and serration along the pieces’ visible edges

The Classic Boot

boot is a type of footwear. Most boots mainly cover the foot and the ankle, while some also cover some part of the lower calf. Traditionally made of leather or rubber, modern boots are made from a variety of materials.

Boots are worn both for their functionality and for reasons of style and fashion. Functional concerns include: protection of the foot and leg from water, mud, extreme temperatures.

The Monk Strap

monk shoe or monk strap is a style of dress shoe with no lacing, instead secured on the feet by one or multiple buckles and straps. It is a moderately formal shoe: less formal than a full Oxford (American: Balmoral); but more so than an open Derby (American: Blücher). In between these, it is one of the main categories of men’s shoes.

It often has a cap toe, is occasionally brogued, and is popular in suede.

The Belgian Slipper

Belgian Slipper Shoes are a variety of hand-stitched loafer, originally manufactured in Izegem, Belgium, a historic centre of the nation’s shoe industry. The shoes are known for their small bow near the top of the vamp.

Belgian Slipper Shoes have been traditionally considered a status symbol among the Upper East Side and Hamptons social set, but have in the past several years become more widely worn. As early as the 1960s the shoe was considered notable as signifying a resistance to prevailing fashion trends, and there have been few significant changes to the range since then.

The Derby

derby is a style of boot or shoe characterised by quarters, with shoelace eyelets that are sewn on top of the vamp. This construction method, also known as “open lacing”, contrasts with that of the Oxford shoe.

In American English, the derby shoe may be referred to as a ‘blucher’, although technically the blucher is a different design of shoe where only eyelet tabs (not larger quarters) are sewn onto a single-piece vamp.

In modern colloquial English the derby shoe may be referred to as ‘bucks’ when the upper is made of buckskin.
